The Jubilee Way

Dear pilgrim,

welcome to Paray-le-Monial, the City of the Sacred Hear of Jesus ! On the occasion of the 350 year jubilee of the apparitions of Jesus to saint Margaret Mary, during which he revealed to her the secrets of his Sacred Heart, we propose a specific programme. Through 4 stages, this journey will lead you to find your abode in the Heart of Jesus, in order to burn with his love day after day and to radiate this on those who are close to you !

Going through the jubilee Door, is to enter the Heart of Jesus, in order to find an in-depth renewal of your baptismal life and give him love for love.

1st Stage The basilica and the Sacred Heart

The way

I enter the Basilica. I let myself be taken by the beauty and harmony of this majestic edifice. How beautiful it is, when the grace of the sacred is allied with the talent and work of man ! I take the time to sit and look. I enjoy the silence and the peace of this space. I have arrived in Paray-le-Monial. At the end of my journey, Jesus offers me a time of rest in his church. I let myself be welcomed by him. He poses his look upon me and he loves me. He knows my life, the whole journey covered since my baptism. With him, in the light of his benevolent look, I can retrace the main stages of my life up to today.

Word of God

Come to me all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads and I will give you rest.Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit. (Mt 11: 28-29)

Text from saint Margaret-Mary

Once, finding myself invested by this divine presence, I abandoned myself to this divine Spirit, delivering my heart to the strength of his love. He had me rest for a long time on his divine chest, where he revealed to me the marvels of his love, and the inexplicable secrets of his Sacted Heart, which up to then he had always kept hidden from me.

Prayer

After taking sufficient time to enjoy the silence, the peace, the welcome of Jesus and the rest which he offers me, I can stand at the foot of the steps of the altar, on the plaque which commemorates the visit of saint John Paul II in this basilica. As son or daugther of the Church, member of the Body of Christ, through my baptism, Temple of the Spirit of God, I profess my faith by saying the « creed ».

I believe in God, the Father, the Almigthy, Creator of heaven and earth ; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, he descended into hell, on the third day he rose again from the dead, he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almigthy, from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
