4th stage Chapel de la Colombière

The way

As I enter the Chapel, I think of a new future opening before me, I who have devoted myself to the Heart of Jesus. I come to ask for the grace of the confidence to persevere, despite my weakness, and the grace to communicate in my turn the fire, which dwells in my heart.

Word of God

– The disciples told Thomas: « We have seen the Lord ! » Thomas said to them: « Unless I see the scars of the nails in his hands, and put my finger on those scars, and my hand in his side, I will not believe ! » Eight days later, Jesus came, although the doors were locked and stood among them. He said: « Peace be with you ! » Then he said to Thomas: « Put your finger here and look at my hands ; stretch out your hand and put it in my side: stop your doubting and believe. » Jn 20: 25-27

Act of confidence of saint Claude

My God, I am so convinced that you keep watch over those who hope in you, and that we can want for nothing when we look for all in you, that I am resolved in the future to live free from every care, and to turn all my anxieties over to you. In peace, I will sleep and I will rest, for you O Lord singularly has settled me in hope I have of your kindness. Men may deprive me of possessions and of honour ; sickness may strip me of strength and the means of serving you, I may even lose your grace by sin ; but I will never lose my hope, I shall keep it to the last moment of my life.

Prayer

After taking sufficient time to give thanks to Jesus, for the renewal of my life, and to present to him my subsequent missionary future, I go to kneel (if I can) at the foot of the tabernacle, at the back of the Chapel. I look at Jesus, on the tabernacle, his hands open towards his Father. In his hands, I lay my future, my confidence, my will to be a missionary of the Heart of Jesus, following the steps of saint Claude. In order to inaugurate my new mission, I place once more in the hands of Jesus, the intention of the Pope which I read at the foot of the tabernacle. I finish my prayer with a « Our Father » and a « Hail Mary ».

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

TO GAIN PLENARY INDULGENCE

This jubilee way includes different procedures required by the Holy See, which has been willing to grant a plenary indulgence, on the occasion of the 350 year jubilee.
In order to benefit from this, you need to fulfill the following conditions:
To be in a state of grace and have the internal ability to be completely detached from sin, even a venial sin. This requires especially to go to confession (if possible on the same day, if not a week before, or after), and to take communion.
To convey with specific charity the grace received by accomplishing one of the acts of mercy.

  • Corporal works: feeding those who are hungry, giving something to drink to those who are thirsty, clothing those who are naked, helping the sick, visiting prisoners, burying the dead.
Spiritual works: advising those who are in doubt, teaching the ignorant, warning sinners, consoling the afflicted, forgiving offence, patiently tolerating those who annoy us, praying to God for the living and the dead.

It is possible to receive the plenary indulgence once a day, for yourself or for a dead person, but not for someone who is alive.
