On the last and most important day of the Festival, Jesus stood up and said in a loud voice, « whoever is thirsty, should come to me, and whoever believes in me should drink. As the Scripture says : streams of life-giving water will pour out from his Side. Jesus said this about the Spirit, which those who believed in Him, were going to receive. » (John 7).
Definitely, we are leaving the water ! In this day of the New Year, what better wish could we desire than to welcome with even greater generosity these streams of living water, which the Lord wants to pour on us and on the world. It is a matter of welcoming the Holy Spirit, with a new fervour for the growth in holiness of the Church, for the conversion of the world, for our own sanctification. St John would never have been capable of writing about these streams, which flow from the Heart of Jesus, unless he had been the witness of the Heart pierced on Golgotha, unless he had seen the blood and water flow from this holy « Sanctuary ». Let us express for each other the wish that each of us should be immersed by the Spirit.
Prayer : from today, various invocations from the prayers to the Sacred Heart or from hymns in its honour.
Jesus, to You be glory given, You whose Heart spreads love.
